Lake City College Preparatory Academy is a Nationally Accredited private Christian School founded in 2007 and located in Lake City, South Carolina. Lake City College Preparatory Academy currently serves students in grades PK-12 using a creative art-based curriculum. In 2009 the school was granted a charter by the state of South Carolina. After admitting many at-risk students from the local public schools in the surrounding area, the school struggled trying to improve student academic achievement levels. On April 2014 the state superintendent announced that the school eventually received a "B" rating.

"The Corridor of Shame," was a documentary that revealed the dismal complexities uncovered by an extensive investigation. This case confirmed the fact that, not only did these students receive unequal funding from the state, but their parents before them also experienced these same situation. Thus, Lake City College Prep Academy was a school that pledged to educate these students coming from an area dubbed, "The Corridor of Shame." Therefore, receiving a "B" on the school report card became the pride of everyone associated with the school. Overall, receipt of both, the SC Palmetto Gold and Silver 2014 awards were the affirmation that the school was a great success. These awards also proved that students were making academic progress, because the state confirmed that LCCPA showed tremendous academic growth. The hard working staff, students and parents who understood the importance of this hard work were finally rewarded. However, that same year, with new legislation in place which should have protected the school, its contract with the state ended, and the school opened as a private school.

The first graduating class of 2014 consisting of 90% of students that attended the school for 4 consecutive years. 100% of all students passed the state High School exit exam which gave the school a 100% graduation rate. 80% of students from the class of 2014 were admitted to college. Several of these students attending Claflin University for three years have been on the Dean's List and are some of the few students from the Lake City area on it.

Other accomplishments include students that have made astronomical accomplishments like Zandra McNair who entered the school as a 6th grader. She has won National American Miss Pageant National Award for Ms. Personality in Anaheim, California. In 2016, she has won National American Miss Pageant State Talent winner, 2nd Place Talent wear and Actress in 2016. She has also received the title of Ms. South Carolina for America's National Ms. 2017.
