Waverley Christian College is an inter-denominational and co-educational independent Christian school with two campuses - Wantirna South and Narre Warren South. The College offers high quality Christian education to pre-school, primary, and secondary students, providing a dynamic learning environment where children are inspired to develop their God given abilities within an atmosphere of genuine love, care and support. With over 1900 students enrolled across the two campuses from pre-school to VCE, WCC supports Christian families in the education of their children.

The College's curriculum, facilities and Christian values help to encourage students achieve their best. A high level of pastoral care is provided for all students. Students are provided with diverse, challenging, and rich educational experiences within a supportive framework. The academic, spiritual, emotional, social and physical well-being of our students is of primary importance to us. Highly dedicated and caring staff offer students excellent learning opportunities.

Waverley Christian College is known for the academic performance of its VCE students, the majority of whom gain entry each year into the university programs of their choice. Furthermore, students who will not be attending university are provided with alternative pathways, including VCAL and VET options.

The College's facilities provide students with excellent educational experiences. They include a gymnasium, music center, library, arts and technology center, science and computer laboratories, and a performing arts theatre.

History

Originally established in 1978 as Parkmore Full Gospel College by Parkmore Full Gospel Church, the church and school merged with Waverley Christian Fellowship (now CityLife Church) in 1983. The College and Church were moved to their present site in Wantirna South in 1989.

The College has 1300 students enrolled in 2017 from Kindergarten to Year 12 across both campuses. The College has a great academic record, always achieving highly in VCE scores.

The College has had three Principals in its history, those being:

  • Mr Trevor Field - 1984-1985
  • Mr Peter Sheahan - 1986-present

Houses

The college has a four-"house" system. The houses are used mainly in the sporting and performing arts facilities:

  • Red - Wycliffe - named after a 14th-century theologian
  • Green - Tyndale - named after a 16th-century Protestant reformer and scholar
  • Yellow - Finney - named after an 18th-century American revivalist and minister
  • Blue - Spurgeon - named after a 19th-century preacher

Site redevelopment

Over the last decade, more than $7 million has been spent on improving the school's facilities. New buildings over the last decade include:

Narre Warren South Campus

Narre Warren South campus has experienced strong growth, with 650 students enrolled in 2017 from Prep to Year 12. To cater for the strong enrolment growth of the campus, facilities at Narre Warren South are continually developing and provide students with excellent educational experiences. They include a library, arts and technology specialist classrooms, as well as science and computer laboratories. The Junior Primary Centre was refurbished for the beginning of the 2016 school year. Construction of a new multi purpose centre, incorporating a gymnasium and performing arts theatre, was completed in April 2016. A beautiful, new Primary School building was completed at the beginning of the 2017 school year.
